Database Administrator – PostgreSQL/Redshift – London/Remote

TrinIT Talent are looking for 2 x Database Administrators with strong PostgreSQL/Redshift experience to join our customers teamworking remotely with some travel to London. This is a permanent position paying between to £65,000-£78,000 depending on experience and role level.

This role requires SC Clearance and the client is happy to put people through this process is eligible

Key skills:-

  • Be responsible for the reliability and performance aspects of multiple AWS Production and Non-Production databases supporting critical applications
  • Provide database expertise to engineering teams (database migrations, queries and performance optimisations)
  • Secure database platforms and individual databases based on requirements and implementation
  • Automation of database platforms and help engineer focus on delivering working application services
  • Identify parts of the data platforms that do not scale, provide immediate resolutions and drives long term resolution of these incidents
  • Proactively work on the efficiency and capacity planning to set clear requirements and reduce the system resources usage to make cheaper to run
  • Drive root cause analysis of incidents and draw on the experience of other members of the team to determine how to better respond to or avoid incidents in future

We are looking for someone with experience in a DBA (Cloud-centric).. You will have demonstrated the following competencies to the proficiency level appropriate to the seniority of the role:

  • AWS cloud computing best practices for scalable, distributed systems
  • MPP database platforms design, build and operation with a Redshift and PostGres focus
  • Designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery
  • Performance tuning: indexing, partitioning & load balancing
  • Deployment via CI/CD automation and configuration management
  • Database modelling and data architectures
  • Build and maintain scalable, distributed systems by following industry best practices
  • Working alongside the Development teams, providing consultancy and guidance on best practices
  • Proficient knowledge of SQL, bash scripting and Python
  • MPP database platforms design, build and operation
  • Designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery
  • Maintaining, configuring automated alerting, and monitoring the database platforms
  • Performance tuning: indexing, partitioning & load balancing

BAU production support – Advanced Diagnostics and trouble shooting skills with an outcome of finding root cause and prompt fix for high priority incident
